Permanent Hair Reduction

With  the Cynosure Icon's IPL Hair Removal System, you can have silky smooth skin without the hassle and inconvenience of shaving or going through the pain of waxing. Laser Hair Removal is a much suitable option that requires a series of treatments to achieve permanent results. The large surface area of the IPL head and the crystal cooling mechanism makes it faster and less painful than other laser treatments.

During the process of permanent hair reduction, the hair follicle is targeted and destroyed by an intense pulse of light (IPL). Over the course of several weeks the hairs that were successfully lasered will eventually fall out.

If the hair is in the stage of growth where it is no longer attached to the follicle when it is lasered, then it may grow back. Hair growth stages are staggered. This is the reason that it takes multiple sessions to achieve optimal hair reduction. 

Pulsed Light hair removal takes, on average, 6-8 sessions. The rate that the hair falls out may vary. Some hairs may fall out immediately and others may take a few weeks. 

Pre-treatment

· Avoid direct sunlight and tanning for 4 weeks prior to first session and between sessions.

· No self tanning lotions for 2 weeks prior.

· Do not tweeze, wax or bleach for 4 weeks prior to treatment and between sessions.

· Check with your doctor or pharmacist if any medications you’re taking will make you photosensitive (reactive to intense light). This can include herbals.

· Shave the treatment area the night before or the day of treatment. 

· You may shave between treatments, but it’s best to wait 10 days after a treatment to shave.

Post-Treatment

You may experience redness and swelling around the follicle. You can use aloe lotion for a cooling effect and/or an ice pack. 

Be gentle with washing for the next 48 hours. No scrubbing or exfoliants.

Drink lots of water and moisturize. It’s always ideal to use an SPF of 30 or more on skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight.

Remember, no tweezing, bleaching, or waxing in between sessions!
